Brave, an open-source web browser that blocks ads and website trackers and provides a way for users to send cryptocurrency contributions in the form of Basic Attention Tokens (BAT), has brought us a couple of exciting new announcements lately. And in this blog post, we’ll cover the three most important ones. Ready to dive in?

Brave: the best rated browser on Google Play Store

With a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 from over 238,000 total reviews, Brave has become the top-rated browser on the Google Play Store.

The privacy-centric browser has gained a serious advantage over its competitors, such as Chrome and Firefox. Des Martin, head of marketing at Brave, announced the news with a tweet that “Brave on Android is now the top-rated browser on the PlayStore.”

The company announced changes to its referral program

Brave launched its referral program in February 2018. To date, more than $13 million in BAT has been distributed via this referral program. However, the company recently announced changes to its wildly successful program. According to the Brave website, from November 9th, 2020, the current referral program will begin to wind-down. Creators that are participating in the program have two weeks to wrap up their promotional activity. And as stated on the website:

  • After November 23rd, referrals (first opens) driven by referrers will no longer be eligible for a payout.
  • Brave will pay out on confirmations that occur before December 24th. A confirmation is a 30-day active user of Brave.
  • Final payments for December confirmations will be made in early January 2021.

The company is also planning a new referral program that will be announced in early 2021. We’re already looking forward to it.

Binance widget is now available to Brave Android users

Brave recently updated its Android browser to include the Binance widget, which is already available to Brave desktop users. Binance is the global blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure provider behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and users. With this new feature, Brave Android and Binance users can now manage crypto assets without leaving their mobile browser.

Users can also easily view summaries, deposit, and conduct transactions with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Ripple, Litecoin, and others supported by Binance.

Final words

Over the past years, Brave has seen amazing growth in popularity and usage. At the beginning of November, the company announced it had passed 20 million monthly active users and 7 million daily active users. In addition, at the moment, Brave has nearly 1 million verified creators and delivered over 2,000 ad campaigns in nearly 200 countries. With all the new exciting announcements, features, and constant improvements to its products, it doesn’t come as a surprise. Great work, Brave!
