Yugalabs Update: A Rollercoaster Year!

Yugalabs, the popular gaming, and NFT development company, has undergone some major updates and changes recently. Recently they celebrated the 2-year anniversary of their first collection Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). After that the journey really begone.

You have probably seen their other collections like Mutant Apes (MAYC), Otherside, CryptoPunks, Meebits, Sewer Passes, and more.

Let’s dive into what’s been keeping Yuga busy.

Yugalabs Team Update

After working tirelessly for 2 years straight, the former Founder & CEO Gordon Goner has stepped down from his position due to health issues.

Yuga didn’t sit still and a new CEO, Daniel Alegra, formerly of Blizzard, has taken the reins. Prior to joining Yugalabs, Alegra worked at Blizzard, where he helped develop and manage some of the company’s most successful games. His experience in the gaming industry has given him a deep understanding of what gamers want and what it takes to create successful gaming experiences. Alegra is known for his strategic thinking and his ability to lead teams and organizations to success.

The new CTO, Mike Seaver, formerly of Epic games, has also joined the team, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise. Seaver has a long history in the gaming industry, having worked at Epic games for many years. He has worked on some of the industry’s most successful games and has a deep understanding of the technical aspects of game development. Seaver’s expertise in game development and technology is sure to be a valuable asset to Yugalabs as it continues to create innovative and engaging gaming experiences.

Other than the big names, the Yugalabs team has grown to over 80 employees now.

Dookey Dash

One of Yugalabs’ most successful games, Dookey Dash, has undergone some significant updates from start to finish. This game required an NFT to play called Sewer passes. These passes were airdropped to BAYC and MAYC holders.

You would use your pass to play and the higher your score, the better NFT you receive (play-to-rank). The winner of the game was a young Fortnite pro named “Mongraal” who sold his NFT for 1000 ETH, making it one of the highest sale NFTs in the market. A true bear market gaming millionaire.

The Dookey Dash game was live for 3 weeks, and it’s been a popular game among NFT enthusiasts.

One of the most exciting features is the play-to-rank model. In the past, players would receive an NFT as a reward for playing a game (play-to-earn), but the value of the NFT would depend on their performance. The higher your score, the better the NFT you receive.

The Dookey Dash game update is a testament to Yugalabs’ commitment to innovation and creativity. The company is always looking for new ways to improve its products and offer a better gaming experience to its users.

The Otherside 2nd trip

Yugalabs has also had a successful run with The Otherside Second Trip, which attracted a whopping 7500 players in the metaverse.

Gamers needed to own one Otherdeed NFT to join the 2nd trip. During the demo day, the gamers got split into 4 teams that had to complete an interactive mission together.

Winners of the mission received a relic helmet NFT reward, making it a highly sought-after item in the NFT market. On the first day of the new NFT wearable, it traded as high as 0.7 ETH.

The Otherside Second Trip is a game that takes place in a virtual world, where players can explore different worlds, complete missions, and collect NFTs. The game has been a massive success, thanks to its engaging gameplay, impressive graphics, and unique features.

Upcoming Games

In addition to the Dookey Dash update and The Otherside success, Yugalabs has also been working on new projects. In May, the company is expected to launch a new mini-game for HV-MTL, which is the evolution 2 of the series. This is a follow-up game from the Dookey Dash storyline. The game is expected to be completely different to prevent the same people from winning this one.

Yugalabs is also set to release Legends of the Mara 2D game in May, which is a retro-style 2D game that takes place in a mystical world. The game is expected to offer a unique gaming experience, thanks to its unique graphics, engaging gameplay, and interesting storyline. This is a strategy game for Otherside holders. You will need an otherdeed to play this game.

Gucci

In addition to these updates, Yugalabs has also partnered with Gucci for a new line of NFT pendants, which is sure to excite fashion and NFT enthusiasts alike. This partnership is a testament to the growing mainstream acceptance and interest in NFTs.

If you were the owner of a “vessel NFT” or “Koda NFT” you could purchase a Gucci Pendant. The pendant will display on your digital collectible, but you can also claim a psychical item later this year. The real-world fashion and metaverse colliding.

Yugalabs Wins Lawsuit

Finally, Yugalabs has won a lawsuit against RYDER RIPPS for IP rights, solidifying its position in the market and protecting its intellectual property. The lawsuit was a significant win for Yugalabs, as it has been a victim of copyright infringement in the past.
