Stratis Wallets: Ins and Outs

In one of our previous blog posts we talked about Stratis: its beginning, coin, services, and the difference between Ethereum and Stratis. Now is the time to find out more about Stratis wallets.

You probably know that Stratis has its own native currency, called the STRAT token. You can send or receive STRAT tokens through several software-based or hardware-based wallet types.

Let’s start with hardware wallets you can use for STRAT tokens.

Hardware wallets for STRAT tokens

Software wallets have one big disadvantage. They can be easy targets for malicious attacks by hackers going after your funds. On the other side, with a hardware wallet, you’ll never have to worry about your tokens being hacked or stolen.

Two of the most famous hardware wallets are Trezor and Ledger. And the good news is that STRAT tokens are supported by both of them.

And what about software wallets? Stratis has its own software wallets. Let’s take a look at them.

Software wallets are non-physical programs and you can download them onto your computer. Stratis has developed several software-based wallets for buying and selling tokens. Let’s take a look at them:

Stratis Core wallet

This wallet has a dual purpose: with it you can stake your STRAT coins, plus it enables you to make transactions. Also, this type of wallet supports staking so that you can become a miner and earn rewards from the STRAT you own.

Breeze wallet

The Breeze wallet is also software-based, and it allows you to send or receive both STRAT coins and Bitcoins. The wallet is “lightweight” and it is suitable for the users who don’t want to mine but just want to make transactions. The Breeze wallet verifies transactions using Simple Payment Verification (SPV) techniques.

Breeze wallet with Privacy Protocol service

This is a variation of the Breeze wallet, with a built-in Privacy Protocol service. According to Stratis website, this means that transactions in the destination wallet can’t be traced to the coins in the original transaction.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are several ways to store STRAT tokens. Whether you want to stake your STRAT tokens, or just to keep them in a secure wallet, Stratis has some interesting options to offer. So, before picking a wallet, do your research to find out which suits best to your needs.
